Book Hauls + Wrap Ups

April ’16 Book Haul + Wrap Up

IMG_9177Hey everyone! I’m finally doing my April Book Haul and Wrap Up and I’m sorry that this post is a little late but that was because I was waiting for all the books I bought in the month to arrive. I did pretty well this month, in terms of book buying, and I bought 7 books so let’s get started!! ❤

The first book that I received this month was Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke!
This book is a YA Magical Realism / Mystery novel that was about 3 different characters, Wink, Poppy and Midnight who all have very different personalities. One day, something terrible happens so in the book and one of the characters know what happens and one of them is also lying. I’m really intrigued by the plot of the book because I rarely read YA mystery novels so I’m hoping to get to this soon! Also, the cover is STUNNING ❤
The next 4 books are books that I purchased by myself!

1) Salt To The Sea by Ruta Sepetys
This is Ruta Sepetys’ new historical fiction novel and it talks about a tragedy that happened during WWII that not many people knew of. I’ve already read this book and LOVED it, and a review will be coming soon!

2) The Wall Of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
This the second book in the Mistborn Trilogy which is a high fantasy series! I read the first book ( The Final Empire ) towards the end of the month and it was so amazing 🙂 Hopefully I’ll be able to read The Wall Of Ascension this month but I highly doubt I will because it is the month of exams and the book is huge.

3) Stolen Songbird by Danielle L Jensen
This is the first book in a trilogy and I’m currently reading this! It follows a girl named Cecile and one day, she gets kidnapped by trolls. She the realises that the trolls are relying on her to break a curse that bounds the trolls to their underground city. I’m really enjoying this book and it’s so unique because I’ve never read anything with trolls 😀

4) The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski
The Winner’s Crime is the second instalment to the Winner’s Trilogy which I absolutely LOVE!! The first book, The Winner’s Curse was phenomenal and The Winner’s Crime was equally as fantastic. I’m very excited to pick up the last book this month 🙂
The last 2 books are books that I got are from Book Depository! Unfortunately, they have not arrived yet so I don’t have pictures of the books for this post 😦

5) The Rose And The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh
OMG I AM SO HAPPY THAT I HAVE THIS BOOK AHHH. I read The Wrath And The Dawn when it first came out last year and I’ve been waiting for the sequel ever since!! The Wrath And The Dawn is a retelling of a classic called A Thousand And One Nights and I highly recommend this book to everyone as it is such a magical and amazing read ❤
6) The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
This is Roshani Chokshi’s debut novel and it has Indian Mythology as well as horoscope elements in it and the synopsis just sounds so magical, and I’m super excited to start reading it 🙂
Moving on to the wrap-up,

1) The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
My Rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
I started off the month with The Winner’s Curse and it was so amazing!! ❤ I loved the political elements present in the novel and I absolutely loved the romance between our main characters. The only thing that lacked for me was that there wasn’t much going on during the middle part of the book. Nonetheless, it was still a great read 🙂

2) The Love That Split The World by Emily Henry
My Rating : ♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
TLTSTW was honestly an overhyped book, in my opinion, and it just wasn’t for me. I did a full review talking about my thoughts on the book and you can find it HERE .
3) Salt To The Sea by Ruta Sepetys

My Rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
I was in a huge slump after reading TLTSTW, so I decided to pick up Salt To The Sea and it got me out of my slump!! 😀 As I mentioned in the haul, this is a historical fiction novel and I just adored Ruta Sepetys’ writing style and the characters she created and it was overall a really beautiful and heartbreaking read.

4) The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
My rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
The Final Empire is the first instalment to the Mistborn Trilogy and this was definitely the best book I’ve read this month ❤ I’ve heard so many amazing things about Brandon Sanderson’s books and it definitely deserves all the hype its getting! I will be doing a full review of the trilogy when I finish it, but definitely pick this book up if you love Fantasy.

5) The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski
My Rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
After finishing The Winner’s Curse and desperately needing more of Kestrel and Arin, I picked up the sequel and I loved it even more than the first book!! There was so much more going on in the book and the romance killed me. I’m so excited to pick up the last book this month and a review of the trilogy will be going up maybe at the end of May / in June 🙂
