Wonder Woman Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo | ARC Review!

Hi everyone 🙂 I’m back today with an exciting book review and I’m going to be reviewing Wonder Woman Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo!!! This is one of my most anticipated releases of 2017 and I’m so thankful to have gotten an ARC from Penguin. Without further ado, let’s get started with the review!
Release date : 29 August 2017
Published by : Random House Books for Young Readers
Synopsis :
She will become one of the world’s greatest heroes: WONDER WOMAN. But first she is Diana, Princess of the Amazons. And her fight is just beginning. . . .
Diana longs to prove herself to her legendary warrior sisters. But when the opportunity finally comes, she throws away her chance at glory and breaks Amazon law—risking exile—to save a mere mortal. Even worse, Alia Keralis is no ordinary girl and with this single brave act, Diana may have doomed the world.
Alia just wanted to escape her overprotective brother with a semester at sea. She doesn’t know she is being hunted. When a bomb detonates aboard her ship, Alia is rescued by a mysterious girl of extraordinary strength and forced to confront a horrible truth: Alia is a Warbringer—a direct descendant of the infamous Helen of Troy, fated to bring about an age of bloodshed and misery.
Together, Diana and Alia will face an army of enemies—mortal and divine—determined to either destroy or possess the Warbringer. If they have any hope of saving both their worlds, they will have to stand side by side against the tide of war.

( Thank you again to Penguin for sending me a copy to review! All opinions stated are my own )
The storyline actually very much reminded me of the Wonder Woman movie which I’m not sure if that was the intention but nonetheless, it still felt like it’s own story and I really enjoyed the elements of it! The starting of the story is a little slow but I absolutely loved the build up to the climax and the twists 🙂 Leigh Bardugo has a writing style that really just captivates you into the story and I found myself unable to put the book down, especially towards the last few chapters.
The characters were definitely my favourite element of the whole novel. As usual, Diana slays the book. She’s always so badass and awesome, and is always putting others before herself ❤ My other favourite characters were Alia, Nim and Theo! I especially loved the friendship that developed between Diana and Alia because they’re such a great duo and I loved their chapters together.
There was also some romance in the novel and I honestly couldn’t care less about the romance. I couldn’t feel any chemistry between the pair and I would rather they didn’t include romance in the book because it just felt really unnecessary 😦 Despite that, Wonder Woman Warbringer was still an amazing novel and I can’t wait for everyone to read it when it’s out!

That’s all for my review and I hope you guys enjoyed it! Definitely get a copy of Wonder Woman Warbringer when it’s out as it’s seriously a great book and I’m sure many of you will love it 🙂 Also, I have a little review of the Wonder Woman movie HERE if you want to check it out. Thank you for reading and I’ll see you in my next post, bye!

  1. Great review! I have an ARC of this book as well that I was lucky enough to get while at BookExpo. It was made even better by the fact that I was able to get it signed by Leigh Bardugo. I can’t wait to read this, though it probably has to wait a couple more weeks. I have so many other ARCs to get to first.

  2. I have this and I really want to read it – but I’m nervous! I love Leigh Bardugo, but I’m not a big super hero BOOK fan, so I am afraid I won’t like it. I’m glad you enjoyed it though! Great review 🙂
