IMG_5465.jpg
Happy Monday everyone!!! It’s that time again for my monthly book haul and wrap up and I went overboard ( AGAIN ) with my book buying in January 😦 As for my wrap up, January was a crazy busy month for me but I’m happy that I managed to read 9 books!
Also, I decided to add a new feature in my hauls / wrap ups! At the end of each post, I’ll be tallying the total number of diverse, #OwnVoices books I bought and read in the month. As you guys may know, reading more diversely is one of my resolutions and I 100% plan to stick to it 🙂 Now let’s get started with the post!

Books I Read
1. Heartless by Marissa Meyer
My rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Heartless was the January BOTM for The Book Babblers, a book club that 12 bookstagrammers ( including myself ) are hosting, and I absolutely LOVED this book! This is a ‘ prequel ‘ to Alice In Wonderland following the story of Catherine and how she became the infamous Queen Of Hearts. The story was whimsical, fun and so heartbreaking and I would highly recommend it ❤
2. Fragmented Bliss by B.J Rosalind
My rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Fragmented Bliss is a collection of poetry and I was kindly sent this for review from the author! Overall, I really enjoyed the poems and I could relate to a lot of them.
3. Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom
My rating : ♥♥♥.75 / ♥♥♥♥♥
Not If I See You First is a YA contemporary novel with a blind MC and though I was a tad bit disappointed because the story was different from what I expected, it was still a solid read and I really loved our main character!
4. A Gathering Of Shadows by V.E Schwab
My rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
A Gathering Of Shadows is the sequel to A Darker Shade Of Magic and it was AMAZING!!! I love everything about this book and my body is 100% ready for A Conjuring Of Light 😀
5. Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings
My rating : ♥♥♥.5 / ♥♥♥♥♥
Zenith is a sci-fi novel and part one of it was first published in eBook format and the full novel will be out in physical format in August! Overall, it was a pretty solid sci-fi novel and I’m looking forward to the full novel coming out.
6. Rock and Riot by Chelsey Furedi
My rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Rock and Riot is a comic series which you can find HERE and it is comic series set in the 50’s and it’s seriously the best thing ever
7. Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
My rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Another collection of poetry I read this month was Milk And Honey by Rupi Kaur! This collection has received so much praise and I of coursed loved it. It’s so beautiful, raw and heartbreaking and I would highly recommend it to everyone!
8. The Diabolic by S.J Kincaid
My rating : ♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
The Diabolic is a sci-fi novel and I was very disappointed. The world building and the concept of the story was interesting but the characters ( apart from Nemesis ) were one dimensional and I just lost interested towards the end of the book.
9. Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda
My rating : ♥♥♥♥.5 / ♥♥♥♥♥
Lastly, we have one of my new favourite LGBTQ+ novels which is Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda!!!

hong

  1. EPIC haul! so many good ones I see! History Is All You Left Me, Saga, and Labyrinth Lost were all solid reads for me. I’m hoping to finally get to Truthwitch soon & look forward to picking up Windwitch soon after. I’m hoping to read them before going to Bookcon this summer since i’ve heard Susan Dennard will be attending *excited face* I have an arc of The Diabolic that I still haven’t gotten around to & I think it’s because I got a bit discouraged by all of the low ratings/reviews, had some hope for that one. Happy reading in February 🙂
