I FAILED MY BOOK BUYING BAN | November 16′ Book Haul + Wrap Up

IMG_5168.jpg
Happy weekend everyone! So, I was feeling really determined to go on a book buying ban in November because I wanted to reduce my TBR but….. I ended up with 19 books. I am ashamed ( but also not ashamed ). Apart from that, I did have a really great reading month in November so does that excuse me from the fact that I bought / received 19 books? 😀 Let’s get started with the haul and wrap up!

Books I Read
1. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
My rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
I kicked off this month with Illuminae and IT WAS SUCH AN AMAZING BOOK. It is a science fiction novel and I could ramble on about how great this book is but this post will be super long so if you’re interested, I have a spoiler free review HERE ! 🙂
2. Saga Volume 2 by Brian K Vaughn & Fiona Staples
My rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
I can’t really say much about this without spoiling it but I absolutely loved the second instalment to the series. They’re such quick and fun reads, and I’m officially addicted.
3. Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland
My rating : ♥♥♥.75 / ♥♥♥♥♥
I was sent a copy of Our Chemical Hearts for review and though I had some issues with the book, it was still a very enjoyable contemporary novel! I also have a spoiler free review up so click HERE if you’re interested 🙂
4. Ruined by Amy Tintera
My rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Ruined is one of my favourite YA fantasy reads of 2016! This book had everything I love in fantasy novels : A badass female assassin MC, politics, magic and slow-burn romance 🙂 Everyone NEEDS to pick up this book and once again, I have a full review up so click HERE to check it out!
5. Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova ( eBook )
My rating : ♥♥♥.75 / ♥♥♥♥♥
Labyrinth Lost is a paranormal / fantasy novel and even though I’ve been seeing mixed reviews, I really enjoyed it! I liked the diversity and the world building but there were other elements in the story that fell flat for me, one of them being the romance, which was what led me to only giving this book 3.75 stars.
6. Paper Princes by Erin Watt ( eBook )
My rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Paper Princess is the first book in a new adult trilogy and though this book wasn’t perfect, it was still a really quick and addicting read! The characters are really interesting and it’s a story that is hard to put down.
7. Broken Prince by Erin Watt ( eBook )
My rating : ♥♥♥.75 / ♥♥♥♥♥
Broken Prince is the sequel to Paper Princess and I felt this book was alright! I liked the first book more but the ending of Broken Prince was INSANE, I literally almost fell off my bed.
8. Saga Volume 3 by Brian K Vaughn & Fiona Staples
My rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Volume 3 is probably my favourite instalment to the series thus far 🙂 I really love where the story is heading and I can’t wait to see what’s in store in the next volume.
9. Rebel Genius by Michael Dante DiMartino
My rating : ♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
I picked up Rebel Genius from the library and I really enjoyed! There are some things that can be improved but I liked the concept of the story and if you’re looking for a quick middle grade fantasy, check this one out.
10. A Darker Shade Of Magic by V.E Schwab
My rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Another one of my favourites of the month! V.E Schwab is one of my favourite authors and A Darker Shade Of Magic definitely did not disappoint ❤ It had a great storyline, great world building and amazing characters!!! Definitely pick this book up if you haven’t, I promise you that it’s a really great read.
11. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Screenplay by J.K Rowling
My rating : ♥♥♥♥♥ / ♥♥♥♥♥
Lastly, I read the Fantastic Beasts screenplay! It’s of course no surprise that I absolutely loved it 🙂 It’s such a wonderful feeling being back in this wizarding world, though it’s a different era, and reading the screenplay just felt like watching the movie all over again!

  1. I always fail my bans, too. If I tell myself I can’t do it, I’m just gonna do it anyway! lol Looks like you had an awesome reading month, though!!

  2. Any time I go on a “book buying ban” I give myself the caveat that if it’s a book on my auto-buy author list then it doesn’t count and I’m allowed to get it.

  3. Looks like an amazing haul! Oh well about your book buying ban (those things never work anyway). Let’s hope all those books deliver! I’m so glad to see you have great things to say about Ruined – I feel like I haven’t heard anything about it. Despite having it on pre-order this year I’ve failed to get around to it but now I’m really excited to!
